Bearspaw Reservoir is a roughly 25km long, narrow stretch of calm water, for stand up paddle boarding. However the launching & access are a challenge. You will need to carry your gear approximately 500m to the shore including a short but steep downhill section.

A pretty spot close to the NW of the city to practice SUP Yoga. Although parking & access is challenging, the water is usually calm. Be aware of jet skis & toy gas powered boats which can be a distraction depending what time of day you go. Keep in mind an anchor is also extra weight for the walk to the launching.

When planning to paddle on alpine mountain lakes, safety is #1. This means having the skills & knowledge to keep yourself safe on glacier-fed waters. I highly recommended taking a lesson beforehand to ensure you have a safe & enjoyable experience!

Surrounded by snow capped mountains, Bow Lake is a large, turquoise color, glacier fed lake with winds which can create choppy waters. The SW end has a beautiful forested shoreline for experienced paddlers to explore.

Beginners should take a SUP skills lesson & safety course prior to trying Yoga here. Safety & enjoyment at Bow Lake is weather dependant. Novice & experienced paddlers, can safely practice at the Day Use & Numti Jah Lodge during early mornings or evening (provided the water is calm) & you anchor a safe distance from the shore.
